Calistoga, California With the World of Outlaws western swing over the teams are heading back to the Midwest this week for three events, starting with a Wednesday night show at Clay County Speedway in Spencer, Iowa. Friday the series will be in action at Heartland Park, in Topeka, Kansas and then head North to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin for a make-up race from earlier this season.
In the past two weeks the Jeremy Campbell Motorsports team has ran four events in California, with a two day show over Labor Day weekend in Calistoga, California. This past weekend the 54th Annual Gold Cup in Chico, California had all of the teams looking for an extra advantage.
After a 14th place qualifying run Friday night, Campbell won his heat and finished 8th in the dash, giving him a solid starting position in Friday's main event. After finishing 11th in the A-feature, Campbell's points for the night lined him up 20th for Saturday's finale, letting him bypass the alphabet soup many of the other drivers faced.
With little passing in the feature event, Campbell managed to move up slightly and finished 17th in the main. Overall, Campbell said he was happy with the way his team preformed.
"This was a big weekend for us," Campbell said. "Our sponsor, Pissed Off Energy Drink, hosted the Bikini contest, so we definitely wanted to get a good race in for them. The competition here is always so tough, just making it to the main event is an accomplishment."
