11.07.07 - Cap Henry claims Rookie-of-the-Year at Attica and Fremont

Bellevue, OH Cap Henry was recently announced as Rookie-of-the-Year at both Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio and Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio for the 2007 racing season. For the first time in five years one driver has taken these prestigious awards at both tracks. Travis Hoffbauer was announced as a second rookie of the year for Fremont Speedway, which in the Ford's final year as the promoters gave two awards for all three divisions at the "Track That Action Built."

In 2007, the talented youngster from Bellevue, Ohio did everything a driver can do in Sprint Car racing but capture an A-main victory as evidence by his 2007 results:

Fremont Speedway Rookie of the Year 2007

Cap Henry competed in 17 races, making into the A-main an astounding 16 times, with one heat race win, two B-main event wins and three top fives. Henry also went on to score seven top ten results in his rookie season and failed to finish only once. In the year end points tally, Henry managed to claim a top ten result finishing eighth.

Attica Raceway Park- Rookie of the Year 2007

The Ohio resident competed in 14 events at the Attica Raceway Park making the A-main event on 11 different occasions. Gaining confidence throughout the season, Henry scored two heat race wins, two top five results as well as eight top ten finishes and when the championship points were finalized, Henry scored another top ten result coming home in ninth.

Sandusky Speedway Asphalt Cavalcade

In a one off asphalt event at the Sandusky Speedway, Henry managed to qualify in 11th out of 25 cars with and was the only driver that did not complete a lap during practice. With several cars running close in time, Henry was forced to use his natural ability to progress forward for a top five result in his first asphalt race in more than a year.

Clyde Go-Kart Grand Prix

Henry traded in his sprint car ride and went back to his karting roots at the Clyde Grand Prix where he competed in three different classes. The versatile driver finished on the podium twice and scored another top five result after being involved in contact and being sent to the tail of the field twice.

"I want to thank the whole team for an awesome job this year," explained 17-year-old Cap Henry. "Our goal at the beginning of the year was to gain as much experience as possible and to make a run at the Rookie-of-the-Year award which we managed to win. I think the whole team had an incredible season and I can't wait to start 2008 and make a run at several different championships."
