Rossburg, OH - The 2007 World of Outlaws seasons has officially come to a close with the final two events completed this past weekend at The Dirt Track at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
After qualifying in the bottom half of the field for Friday's event, the JCM team missed the set-up in the heat race sending Campbell to the B-Main. Starting 12th in a last chance qualifier which included top names such as Dewease, Kemenah, Smith, Hannagan, Henderson, Lasoski and McCarl, Campbell put on one of the best shows of the weekend, passing more than five cars in the first two laps.
Campbell continued to pick off the other competitors and battled his way into a transfer spot, securing his position in the A-Main. After running two late model B-Main's the track for the World of Outlaws feature event made moving forward even more difficult than usual, but Campbell was able to work his way up to 19th position.
Saturday's event started much the same as Friday's, with Campbell starting in the back on the B-Main. Campbell again made a strong first lap charge and was within two positions of a transfer when the #5c of Chad Hillier stopped on the track in an effort to draw a yellow and collected both Campbell and Wilson.
The JCM team was able to make repairs to the RLM Financial / Americas Best Value Inn #10c but Campbell was not able to make up for the positions lost.
"I was very disappointed with Saturday's outcome," Campbell said. "It's sad when someone who isn't going anywhere to begin with wrecks three cars and costs someone a spot in the points standing."
"My team did everything possible to get the car back in shape and I'm proud of them for that. It's been a rough year, but we will come back stronger."
Campbell finished the World of Outlaws season 18th in points, only 14 points behind 17th place Chad Kemenah. The team posted 3 top fives, with 8 top ten's and two quick times. The team is now back in Monroe, Michigan making plans for the 2008 season.
